The Property Risk Analyst supports the risk management of the bank’s property interests and the understanding of property related matters to the teams which deal with mortgage origination, management of the portfolio and disposal of properties.

The Property Risk Analyst will help deliver low effort customer experiences and play a key role in ensuring that by design, our processes create low effort. Required to be a role model and mentor to our teams, taking on queries where necessary and providing coaching and feedback to colleagues to ensure that they can handle their tasks in the future. Working closely with the Head of Mortgage Risk to support the risk management of property interests.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience of using software tools such as SAS, Python, R, SQL (list not exclusive) to extract and manipulate data from a data warehouse.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Play an active role in supporting the Head of Mortgage Risk in shaping and achieving  the property monitoring policy and property related polices relating to origination, underwriting and portfolio management.
  • Carry out risk monitoring work including valuation audits and work with the support of the Head of Mortgage Risk to ensure that all deadlines and SLA’s are met.
  • Produce MI that supports the decision-making process for Mortgages with regards to property policy, and product development strategies
  • To deliver regular insight into portfolio health, highlighting potential risks and threats, and proposing appropriate mitigating actions.
  • Support the risk culture of the organisation by taking personal responsibility for identifying and managing risks in everything you do.
  • To keep abreast of external economic and market conditions that could impact the business.
  • To collate, clean and summarise customer data and customer performance data from appropriate sources, ensuring accurate information is supplied to the business.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the regulatory framework and ensuring policies and processes are compliant with regulations
  • Support the preparation of the presentations to Retail Risk committee.
  • Communicate complex analyses, insights, and proposals clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Develop expertise within the risk department to become a Subject matter expert.
  • Support and guide underwriting decisions
  • Constantly learning and refreshing knowledge of our product range as part of our Training and Competency scheme. Working with Head of Mortgage Risk and the product team to improve own skills and knowledge. Work to understand how to support teams to embed any training delivered.
  • Learn and develop the knowledge of property related matters and keep abreast of legislative changes and markets.
  • Ad-hoc Projects as required.
