Our 50+ Residential Mortgage

What is it?

Our 50+ residential mortgage is designed for borrowers over the age of 50. Your broker will advise you which option is suitable for you – interest only where your monthly repayments only cover the interest or a repayment mortgage where your monthly repayments cover the interest and the amount you have borrowed. With interest only, you’ll need to pay off the rest of the loan at the end of the term.

Who's it for?

In short, people over 50 who need a mortgage. If you know when and how you’d like to become mortgage free, our 50+ mortgage allows you to keep your mortgage payments into retirement.

How it works

This is a mortgage product that runs for a minimum of 5 years to a maximum 41 years. If you choose interest only, you’ll only pay the interest back each month and won’t pay the loan back until the end of the mortgage term. If you choose repayment, your monthly repayments cover the interest and the amount you’ve borrowed.


If you choose interest only, you only make the interest payments each month, keeping payments lower. You’ll need a plan in place to repay the mortgage at the end of your term. If you choose repayment, your mortgage will be paid off at the end of your term.

Our RIO Mortgage

What is it?

A RIO is a retirement interest only mortgage, on your main property, that you have for life. There’s no end date, and you’ll make interest payments each month.

Who’s it for?

It’s designed for people over 50, and you’ll need to be between 50-88 when applying. You don’t have to be retired.

How it works

You’ll make monthly interest payments, and only pay off the loan when you sell your home. You can choose to fix the interest rate for 2 or 5 years.
