To lead the procurement of goods and services across the organisation, working within the Finance team and reporting directly to the Head of Procurement. The Procurement Manager is central to developing and managing supplier relationships, supporting internal colleagues and building a resilient supply chain tailored to a dynamic Financial Service environment.

The Procurement Manager is responsible for delivering value for money, ensuring contractual compliance and aligning procurement activities with the strategic objectives of the business. This role is key in embedding a culture of commercial awareness and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrable Procurement Manager or supplier relationship manager experience
  • Sound negotiation acumen with a track record of delivering value for money within a challenging environment
  • Working knowledge of contractual and commercial terms
  • Ability to build relationships, engage colleagues and manage stakeholders at all levels
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting the full contract lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support and implement the Procurement strategy, policy, processes and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a range of effective relationships both internally across the organisation and externally with suppliers, effectively communicating ideas and opportunities that align with strategy.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement processes, ensuring best value and compliance.
  • Identify, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to secure best value.
  • Remain abreast of external market trends related to the financial services industry, supplier initiatives and regulatory developments.
  • Ensure that material suppliers have compliant third party risk management and that appropriate due diligence is performed.
  • Oversee and refine procurement risk and performance reporting.

Procurement Processes:

  • Generate and analyse data to identify root causes and inform robust procurement decisions.
  • Provide commercial guidance and input to key projects and colleagues.
  • Foster organisational awareness of procurement best-practices and value-for-money principles.
  • Assist in developing or amending procurement related policies, templates and procedures to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with third party risk management policies and regulatory due diligence requirements like SS2/21.
  • Organise and manage colleagues, such as the DPO, Operational Resilience and IT Security, input into the due diligence process.

Negotiation:

  • Tender evaluations, negotiation and contracting.
  • Support on developing specifications for tendering and contracting purposes.
  • Assist in the resolution of supplier performance issues or problems.
  • Manage contract renewals and ensure correct documentation is available within the contracts database.
  • Review and negotiate contractual and commercial terms to the best value of the organisation.
  • Challenge whether internal requests for expenditure are within budget and present value for money for the organisation, suggesting alternatives where applicable.

Procurement Systems:

  • Ensure the orderly flow of requisitions and orders through the Procurement to Pay system (Medius).
  • Contribute to system development initiatives such as database enhancements, catalogue creation and automation improvements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to support audit, reporting and compliance requirements.

Communication:

  • Present procurement results and insights to internal colleagues.
  • Maintain proactive and transparent communication with suppliers.
  • Provide regular updates to the Head of Procurement and other colleagues on procurement activities and undertakings.
  • Engage effectively with internal colleagues throughout the full procurement lifecycle.

General:

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and legislative and regulatory requirements, including, but not exhaustively, those related to GDPR, Money Laundering, Health & Safety, PRA/FCA regulations, employment, and other legislative requirements (as applicable).
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as and when requested by senior management.
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Compliance & Risk regulatory and legislative information related to products/services (e.g. PRA/FCA rules, Data Protection, Money Laundering, etc.), as advised by line management.
  • Support the risk culture of the organisation by taking personal responsibility for identifying and managing risks.
