Senior Software Engineer – EXPIRED

Under the overall management of the Software and Architecture Lead or Lead Software Engineer, lead the software development activity on a single delivery team and ensure it aligns with the architectural vision for Hodge.  Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive continual improvement of software delivery and development practices.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead software development activity on single delivery team.
2. Manage development and test resources on single delivery team.
3. Demonstrate a deep understanding of relevant languages and frameworks
4. Work with software and delivery teams to define and implement architectural vision for single project.
5. Undertake detailed design work for individual services in line with architectural vision
6. Understand and maintain all relevant architectural documentation on project work undertaken.
7. Ensure architectural work includes appropriate quality controls mechanisms (e.g. reliability patterns and health-checks).
8. Line Management responsibility for Software Engineers and Graduate Software Engineers.
9. Pro-actively improve team performance through formalised knowledge sharing.
10. Advise and coach other team members to aid their technical and team development.

What we require:

• Previous experience in commercial software development environment
• Experience developing web services in a service-based architecture using Java (v8+)
• Knowledge and experience using relational databases, Hibernate and Spring or similar frameworks.
• Knowledge of best practice and supporting tools throughout the Software Development lifecycle.
• Experience of leading a software development team
