The focus of the role is to take responsibility for the regulatory reporting within the Bank, ensuring that information is completed accurately and on a timely basis for the review of senior managers, the Board and external regulators.

Ensure year end statutory accounts and regulatory information is produced accurately; working to set deadlines.

Proactively manage the following teams: Management Accounts and Financial & Regulatory Reporting ensuring they develop and are motivated to maximise performance and ensure the achievement of objectives.

Certification Regime:

This role is identified as falling under a category of staff whose professional activities are deemed to have a material impact on Hodge’s risk profile under the following criteria:

Holds managerial responsibility within the Finance function and reports directly to the Chief Finance Officer

Key responsibilities will include:

  • As the Head of Financial Regulation, you will be responsible for overseeing Hodge’s BAU regulatory reporting processes and ensuring that all necessary reports are filed accurately and on time. You will work closely with the business, in particular, risk, finance, and compliance, to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met. You will also liaise with Internal and External audit as required.

 

  • You will prepare and review returns (to include Pillar III, ICAAP and Recovery Plan) to the Bank of England, Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority, ensuring their accuracy, completeness and production on a timely basis.

 

  • Keep up to date with all new Financial Reporting Regulations and any changes to the UK regulatory environment, including the responsibility for horizon scanning of regulatory matters and the necessary interpretation of regulatory policies.

 

  • Responsible for ensuring all Board and Exco approved regulatory reporting policies and high-level documentation of key assumptions and interpretations of regulatory rules and guidance are reviewed and updated on at least an annual basis

 

  • Ensure detailed procedures, assumptions and interpretations of regulatory reporting rules and guidance are fully documented across all regulatory reporting returns and are kept fully up to date with business and regulatory rule changes

 

  • Provide advice and support to managers and colleagues on best practice, identifying training needs and recommending or providing training/coaching for colleagues where appropriate.

 

  • Communicate departmental goals and objectives to employees, and be receptive to ideas and suggestions from employees to achieve strategic aims.

 

  • Lead, manage and motivate employees (in accordance with HR policies and procedures) to maximise individual and team performance in the achievement of stated objectives.

 

What we need from you:

  • Degree level education
  • Qualified Accountant with extensive PQ experience – ACA/ACCA or equivalent qualification
  • Significant experience in a role at management level
  • Ideally experience of IFRS and financial services
  • Sound accounting and financial acumen
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
