Application Architect and Development Lead

This is a key role as a senior member of the technology team at Hodge.  As Application Architect and Development Lead you will have responsibility for leading the application architecture and development activity across multiple projects for Hodge.  You will define and implement the application architectural vision and work closely with the development teams to deliver against it.

You will lead the development of a large scale digital transformation programme that is an enabler for significant growth at Hodge as part of a 5 year strategy.  Working in an agile environment, we are building cloud-based web solutions for real-time financial services delivered through cross platform solutions.  The role will engage with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to drive continual improvement of development and related practices.

Main Responsibilities:

• Define and implement architectural vision and principles across multiple projects
• Work with software and delivery teams to aid delivery and to define & implement architectural vision across multiple projects
• Work with business stakeholders to ensure software architecture and delivery aligns with short and longer-term goals
• Provide technical input into the Technical Roadmap/runway
• Engage with external suppliers to ensure systems interfaces align with agreed principles and standards
• Champion continuous improvement within development standards, practices and processes
• Provide advice & guidance, mentoring & development to colleagues within the Development Team

Skills and Experience Required:

• 8+ years experience in Commercial software development environment
• Experienced in leading and managing development teams / developers
• Experience developing web services in a service based architecture using Java (8+)
• Knowledge of championing and implementing best practice and toolsets throughout the software development lifecycle.
