Under the overall management of the Financial Controller, the role holder will develop, implement, and maintain complex financial models in IBM Planning Analytics (TM1). The successful candidate will use current industry and specialist knowledge to overcome challenges and look to continually improve the service. Working with data, and other teams to understand requirements and deliver effective IBM Planning Analytics solutions, while actively seeking opportunities to automate and improve existing applications.
Essential Experience
- Relevant qualification, such as an HND in Computing or equivalent certification/badges in IBM Planning Analytics / TM1, or a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent)
- Experience developing IBM Planning Analytics / TM1 solutions, with working knowledge of TM1 architecture, cubes, dimensions, TI processes, rules, and PAX/PAW
- Experience building planning, budgeting, and forecasting models within financial environments
- Strong financial and business understanding, including finance and resource planning functions and the impact of development work
- Ability to work collaboratively across business, technical, and data teams, including integration with data warehouses
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Partner with Finance and Business Partnering teams to deliver Planning Analytics (TM1) solutions supporting budgeting, forecasting and management reporting and analysis.
- Design, build and maintain TM1 models end‑to‑end, including cubes, dimensions, hierarchies and rules, aligned to agreed data models and governance standards.
- Develop and optimise TM1 rules to automate financial data loads, calculations and business logic.
- Deliver and support reports and dashboards using Planning Analytics.
- Work in partnership with cross functional teams and 3rd party suppliers on issue resolution, product enhancement and best practice.
- Integrate TM1 with upstream and downstream systems (e.g. databases) to ensure consistent, controlled data flows.
- Support model performance, data quality and resilience, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Participate in requirements‑gathering workshops, translating business needs into clear technical designs and deliverables.
- Follow established change, release and deployment processes, including testing, documentation and peer review.
- Provide business‑as‑usual support for TM1 environments, responding to incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs.
- Maintain clear documentation for models, processes and data flows to support audit and control.
- Share knowledge and provide guidance to less‑experienced team members
