This role will support the delivery of the Commercial Lending business plan across the spectrum of client satisfaction, business development, income generation, brand profile and reputation, risk management, conduct, compliance and staff development.

Essential Experience:

  • Extensive experience in commercial lending in real estate investment, development, and buy-to-let markets.
  • Experience with new and existing business applications, management reporting, policy and product development, market development.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  1. Manage and develop a portfolio of loans/clients including the acquisition of new clients, negotiating appropriately structured and priced facilities in line with Hodge risk appetite, capital optimisation and return requirements.
  2. Maintain and develop relationships with clients, brokers and their advisors, working closely to establish their strategic goals and identifying areas where Hodge can support their future needs in the context of our established risk appetite parameters.
  3. Ensure that client requirements and service levels are met by providing a timely, efficient, professional, enthusiastic and knowledgeable manner at all times, driving high levels of client satisfaction.
  4. Maintaining and developing trusted relationships with key external advisors and contacts, developing the Hodge brand to support and grow the business.
  5. Preparation and presentation to the relevant sanctioning authority of high quality credit papers in a timely manner and consistent with credit risk policy, business line parameters and sub-sector guidance metrics.
  6. Timely and professional execution of sanctioned deal structures, scoping and managing appropriate professional advisory work as part of risk appraisal and due diligence processes, along with evaluation and feedback to sanctioning authorities.
  7. Ensuring appropriate security items are taken, drawdown processes are followed correctly, conditions precedent are signed off and confirming that AML/KYC due diligence is satisfactory.
  8. Ensure that all facilities are operating in accordance with agreed terms, reporting any breaches to the appropriate sanctioning authority, providing appropriate proposals for remedy and/or negotiating appropriately restructured facilities with the client.
  9. Regularly review and accurately assess risk rating characteristics of each exposure within your allocated portfolio.
  10. Take ownership of Hodge Bank standard development pack.
  11. Ensure industry / legal precedents are incorporated into Bank legal documentation as changes occur and ensure ‘suite’ remains current.
  12. Awareness of development ‘book’ exposure by asset class, sector and geographical location against policy limits.
  13. Ensure reporting of monthly development WIP is consistent across the portfolio.
  14. Maintain knowledge of competitor appetite / activity ensuring Hodge offering remains ‘market’ for our chosen space and USP is not eroded by more competitive terms.
  15. Consider ‘development finance’ product evolution.
  16. Ensure that systems-based records are maintained in a timely and accurate manner.
  17. Providing guidance and developmental coaching to junior team members

General

  1. Comply with all company policies and procedures and legislative and regulatory requirements, including, but not exhaustively, those related to GDPR, Money Laundering, Health & Safety, PRA/FCA regulations, employment and other legislative requirements (as applicable).
  2. Undertake any other reasonable tasks as and when requested by senior management.
  3. Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Compliance & Risk regulatory and legislative information related to products/services (e.g. PRA/FCA rules, Data Protection, Money Laundering, etc.), as advised by line management.
  4. Support the risk culture of the organisation by taking personal responsibility for identifying and managing risks.
