Senior Compliance Manager (First Line)

We are seeking a Compliance professional with extensive knowledge of compliance and FCA/PRA regulation within financial services in the UK who will be responsible for the first line compliance within the Retail division, ensuring our organisation adheres to applicable UK legal regulations.

The role holder will be responsible for a full range of compliance activities, including – Compliance Framework, advisory, policies & procedures, horizon scanning (regulatory requirements) and compliance projects.

This role reports directly to the Group Retail Director and is positioned in the organisations first line Compliance team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting business units with implementing regulatory change
  • Assessing current compliance risks and controls within the first line of defence
  • Design and delivery of the Quality Assurance Policy
  • Development of the first line compliance framework
  • Regular compliance reporting, including monitoring of key metrics, to be taken through the organisation’s governance structure.
  • On-going development and leadership of the first line Compliance team.


Candidates must have knowledge of FCA principles and internal controls preferably within the banking industry alongside more general compliance understanding and the ability to interpret and advise the business on compliance requirements.

The ability to produce and present high-quality focused material for Executive and Board level committees and to senior management is essential, along with strong communication and effective negotiation skills.

To be successful in this role you will effectively build and maintain collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels across the business and have the ability to challenge objectively.

Previous experience of horizon scanning and developing quality assurance will be key requirements for the role.
