Credit Risk Oversight Manager

During these interesting times we are looking to strengthen our credit risk capability across the organisation and have created an exciting role for a Credit Risk Oversight Manager within the Risk function. We are seeking an individual with demonstrable experience within credit risk roles within financial services, ideally background across retail mortgage lending, buy to let lending and residential/commercial finance and an understanding of portfolio behaviours through a credit cycle.

This is a key role within the Risk function working as the second line of defence with responsibility to provide independent oversight and challenge to the business on credit risk matters across Hodge’s lending portfolios.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and reporting upon portfolio level risk controls, credit quality trends, concern/watchlists, KRI etc.
  • Review and challenge policies and processes for credit risk including underwriting, collections and account management.
  • Reviewing, reporting and ensuring compliance with approved credit policies, processes, procedures and guidelines through regular sample checking covering
  • Undertaking thematic reviews across the portfolios where a specific aspect of credit risk or an emerging risk/trend is examined
  • Review and provide opinions on proposals from the first line on credit risk matters, including new product proposals, existing product changes and strategic direction.
  • Define and recommend an annual plan of assurance activity to cover credit risk across the organization
  • Challenge and recommend improvements to the credit risk appetite framework

Candidates must have knowledge of FCA and PRA regulation and principles for credit risk along with internal controls mindset preferably within the banking industry.

The ability to produce and present high-quality focused material for Executive and Board level committees and to senior management is essential, along with strong communication and effective negotiation skills.

To be successful in this role you will effectively build and maintain collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels across the business and have the ability to challenge business stakeholders objectively.

Experience providing oversight assurance from a second line role is desirable.
